Things I love Thursday...

1. Cholula Hot Suace (chili garlic flavor): I am a lover of all things spicy. I have a bottle of this Cholula Hot Sauce stashed in my drawer at work. When I want to add some kick to my brown bagged lunches, this hot sauce hits the spot. I also love mixing a couple of tablespoons of the sauce with sliced sweet potatoes, and baking them in the oven to create delicious and savory fries.

 2. High-waisted shorts: I am so happy that high-waisted bottoms are back. I love this inspiring Spring look from Dace's lookbook. I've said this before and I'll say it again, I can't wait for the warmer weather to arrive.

3. To end on a sweet note...I love these Navita Cocoa nibs. Yummy and good for you too!

TGIF! Thank goodness it's a three-day weekend. Enjoy!

Spring and Dear Creatures

I bought this lovely top from Dear Creatures to celebrate Spring's imminent arrival. I believe this sweater was inspired by Anna Karina, one of my favorite French actresses and style inspirations.

Love, love, love

I've always loved this song by Tristan Prettyman and I just discovered her tumblr...such a happy place to visit. After this crazy winter in NYC, I'm definitely looking forward to warmer weather.

Things I love Thursday

1. Pre-code Hollywood Movies
I'm a sucker for old Hollywood movies. Pre-code movies were made in the 1930's and are pretty risque and scandalous even for our modern times. I have been hibernating this winter and watching old movies on the weekends. I thoroughly enjoyed "Rain" with Joan Crawford and "The Divorcee" with Norma Shear.

2. Music by the band Celebration
Celebration makes beautiful, dreamy music. I would love to see them live in 2011. You can download some of their music "gratis" via their website. I highly recommend them!

3.Lindt Lindor Truffles Peanut Butter Milk Chocolate with Smooth Peanut Butter Filling
Oh my goodness...these chocolate balls filled with creamy peanut butter are pretty delicious. If you feel like indulging a bit, please feel free! Pssst...Valentine's Day is this Monday. :)

Do It Yourself in the new year...

Last weekend, I finally found a place that sold metallic spray paints and decided to get my craft on. As promised several months ago, I am finally posting a picture of one of the items I spray painted. I bought this old cat statue  at some antique market on Bowery. I remember paying $20 for him and carrying the 20 pound thing back home on the subway with me. Although, I loved his gray and weathered appearance and his black goth eyeliner, I decided to give him some color for the new year. Tah-dah!

This is definitely a DO!

Henry Allen Gold Piggy Bank, $190
Ever since I spotted Harry Allen's golden piggy bank in a feature about interior designer Rita Konig's apartment, in the now defunct but beloved Lucky Magazine, I have been obsessed with it. Despite many attempts to save enough pennies to buy said pig, the frugal side of me continually resisted the urge to fork over two "Benjamins" for it.
Rita Konig's apartment. Look at the pretty piggie on the mantel.
But alas, I discovered this super inspiring diy blog called P.S. - I Made This by Erica Domesek.  In her super easy and clever tutorial, she describes how to transform old boring items that you may have lying around in your house into metallic wonders worth drooling over.

As soon as I find out where to buy metallic spray paint in NYC, I am so doing this! Get ready to see a plethora of before and after pictures.
